[SMM Analysis: 2025 First Batch of Import and Export Data! Alumina Maintains Net Export Status] According to Chinese customs, China exported 404,900 mt of alumina in January-February 2025, up 45.9% YoY; imported 77,600 mt of alumina, up 87.9% YoY; net exports of alumina were 327,300 mt, down 189.4% YoY. (Based on 8-digit HS code: 28182000)
SMM March 21 – According to Chinese customs, China's alumina exports in January-February 2025 were 404,900 mt, up 45.9% YoY; alumina imports in January-February 2025 were 77,600 mt, up 87.9% YoY; net alumina exports in January-February were 327,300 mt, down 189.4% YoY (based on the 8-digit HS code: 28182000). At the beginning of 2024, the alumina import window opened, and currently, the price spread between domestic and overseas markets has widened, with LME outperforming SHFE, coupled with a renewed surplus of alumina in the domestic market. It is expected that China will continue to maintain its current import and export pattern for alumina. Specifically:
